    Representatives from the New Hampshire Department of Labor will present an overview of state labor laws and Department enforcement processes covering:

    • Wage and Hour laws;
    • Youth employment laws;
    • Workers Compensation laws;
    • Inspection processes;
    • Enforcement processes;
    • Common violations; and,
    • Distinctions between the US Dept. of Labor and the NH Dept. of Labor;

    Through this program, attendees will gain or reinforce a greater understanding of the labor laws that apply to their businesses, as well as key insights into the inspection and enforcement process so that they may be knowledgeable and prepared with expectations if these issues ever do arise.

    About our Speakers: 

    Danielle Albert, Deputy Commissioner – NH Department of Labor

    Danielle N. Albert, is the current Deputy Commissioner for the New Hampshire Department of Labor.  Ms. Albert previously served the Department as the  Director of the Workers’ Compensation Division ,General Counsel, and a workers’ compensation Hearing Officer.   Prior to state service, Ms. Albert worked as an attorney in the disability rights arena and, prior to her legal career, as a social worker for a substance abuse treatment center.  Danielle earned her J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center, and her M.S.W. from Boston College. 

    John Garrigan, General Counsel – NH Department of Labor

    Attorney Garrigan is the current General Counsel for the NH Department of Labor, where he acts as the chief legal resource for the Department and supervises the Department’s Legal Unit. The Legal Unit is responsible for a wide range of legal functions including prosecuting administrative enforcement actions for violations of labor laws, representing the Department in Superior and Circuit court matters, responding to public information requests, and presenting legislative testimony.

    Prior to joining the Department, Attorney Garrigan was the Chief Administrative Prosecutor at the New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, where he oversaw and directed professional misconduct prosecutions before more than 50 state professional licensing boards. Attorney Garrigan was also previously an Assistant Attorney General at the New Hampshire Department of Justice in the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Bureau, where he investigated and prosecuted criminal and civil cases to enforce state laws against unfair and deceptive business practices.
