Presenters: Tina Sharby, CHRO, Easter Seals; Ryan Mountain, VP, Work Opportunities Unlimited; Andrea Chatfield, Esq, Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Mason

    Program Details:

Diversity isn’t just about race, creed, color, gender, etc.  There are groups of potential employees and resources that are available but not always thought of when making hiring decisions.  This program brings a panel together to tell you about some unique programs and funds to help you access diverse populations to solve some of your recruiting problems.

    About the Presenters:

Tina Sharby is the Chief Human Resource Officer of Easter Seals in Manchester.  She is an experienced professional with multi-state experience working as a strategic partner in all aspects of Human Resources Management.  Tina holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Keene State College in Business Management, minoring in Human Resources and Safety Management and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Leadership with Granite State College. She obtained her Professional Human Resources Certification in 2002.  Tina has over twenty five years’ experience in the Human Resources Management field. She has acquired strong analytical, organizational, and strategic management skills. She received the HR State Council Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award in 2017.  Tina will speak about their New Americans Training Program that she was instrumental in developing to fill Easter Seals positions to work with disabled children.  This has been an award winning program!

Ryan Mountain, Vice President, Work Opportunities Unlimited began his career in 1994, working with individuals with all disability types to secure jobs and employers to find candidates.  Since that time, he has provided and supervised services across 9 states and finds himself meeting with employers on a regular basis consulting with employers, employees, and direct support professionals in an effort to ensure a satisfactory employee/employer relationship.  He will often say that each employment situation is a learning experience which prepares him for the next, and the results are amazing and often unforeseen.  Ryan will speak about creative ways to “job carve” to take advantage of an untapped population of job seekers who experience barriers to employment, the Social Security Administration’s Ticket To Work program and tax credits and federal and state programs and funds to help employers tap this population who sincerely want to work.  He will also provide resources that are available to help you start this recruiting process.

Andrea Chatfield, Esq., of Cook, Little, Rosenblatt & Mason, advises employers on risk management issues in the workplace and represents employers of all types and sizes before administrative agencies in discrimination, whistleblower, unemployment, and wage disputes.  She conducts in-house trainings for employers and serves as an outside investigator for employers who need to respond to highly sensitive internal complaints of discrimination and harassment. Andrea is a frequent public speaker on employment law topics, and recently authored the New Hampshire employment law chapter for the Navigator series of state laws offered by Lexology (an innovative, web-based service) and the Association of Corporate Counsel. Andrea is admitted to practice in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and she has earned an “AV” rating from Martindale Hubbell.  Andrea is listed in Chambers USA as one of the leading employment lawyers in New Hampshire and in Best Lawyers of America for employment law - management.  In addition, she is the Government Relations & Legislative Chair for the HR State Council of New Hampshire, and she serves on the Personnel Advisory Committee for the Manchester Community Health Center.  In June, 2017, Andrea was the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award for her many years of service on the Board of Directors of the Manchester Area Human Resources Association.  She will provide a legal overview that includes developing training programs to ensure your workplace is free from discrimination and harassment, how to plan ahead for the inclusion of new diverse populations and  tips to help your current employees work side-by-side as a team with people whom they see as “diverse”.
