    Presented by: Catharine Mirable, SHRM-SCP, SPHR from CGI Business Solutions and SHRM Advocacy

    Program Details:

    “Tired of Laws That Create More Work for You?  HR Advocacy – The Difference Between Having a Seat at the Table or Being on the Menu?”

    All too often, HR professionals are in the position having to deal with change.  Whether it is implementing and enforcing a policy or complying with a law or regulation, many HR professionals often feel as if they have no control in the process.  This session will review the many resources available to HR professionals and help turn reaction into action.  Session attendees will:

    • Review the many helpful resources available to help influence change at work at both the state and federal level;
    • Talk about advocacy methods that work and those that are a waste of time;
    • Get acquainted with SHRM’s A-Team and local representatives;
    • Hear about a few recent examples of how local HR professionals have effectively initiated, supported or challenged laws and regulations.
