    Fostering a Positive Culture in Your Organization: the Role of Human Relations Skills

    Program Details:

    There are many types of culture. For the purpose of this presentation we will focus on fostering a positive workplace that embraces diversity and actively demonstrates inclusivity through a strong organizational culture. How is this accomplished; self-awareness, effective communication, alignment of organization goals with talent acquisition, and consistency in policies and structure.  Participants will realize the import of aligning people, structure and goals to support a positive culture. Participants will leave with additional insight to:

    • The diversity wheel
    • Value of knowing thyself – who am I and how am I perceived
    • Effective Communications - Words have meaning; actions have meaning
    • Organization core competencies

     

    Presenters:

    Dr. Maria Manus Painchaud, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, is a management consultant and former associate professor of organizational leadership in the School of Business at Southern New Hampshire University. Over the past three years, in addition to consulting, Dr. Painchaud has assumed interim positions to assist organizations through critical transitions. She took on the active role of VP HR for a medium sized organization servicing student loans during a major HR transition, special advisor during implementation of an ERPS for a high tech manufacturing company, and Director of Administration at a small NH law firm to assist with reorganization, operational efficiencies and implementing solid human resource practices. While at SNHU, she taught courses in strategic management, principles of management, total rewards, human resource strategy and development, as well as directed the HR Certification Training Program achieving some of the highest pass rates in the country. In her previous management positions at a major NH law firm and at a leading NH electric utility, she was the point person overseeing the planning and execution of the strategic plan for both the business operations of the law firm and the Retail Operations Centers of an electric utility during deregulation. In addition, she was responsible for the management and execution of revised compensation systems, two major technology conversions as well as numerous upgrades, and creation of a training and development program for team leaders. Additionally, Dr. Painchaud provides consulting services to both for profit and not-for-profit organizations, focusing on strategic management, succession planning, strategic human resource management issues, and leading and managing change. She serves on a number of not-for-profit boards holding leadership positions, as well as having been selected for several community service recognition awards.

    Dr. Steven R. Painchaud, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, is a management consultant and former professor of organizational leadership in the School of Business at Southern New Hampshire University. Dr. Painchaud has over thirty years of teaching, management and consulting experience. He taught in the areas of strategic management, leadership, human relations, and social environment. He was the recipient of the 2008 International Teaching Excellence award from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and is an expert in three year competency based education. He co-authored Saving Higher Education: The Integrated, Competency Based Three Year Bachelor’s Degree Program (Jossey-Bass, 2012). Dr. Painchaud also provides consulting services to both for profit and not-for-profit organizations, focusing on strategic management, leadership training, and human resources management. He serves on several not-for-profit boards holding leadership positions.
