    Program Description: 

    Effective performance management is key in growing and managing talent in an organization as well as providing a sound legal defense when performance issues arise. This will be a panel discussion looking at both legal and organizational development perspectives as well as sharing best practices.

    About our Speakers: 

    Attorney Karen Whitley / Sheehan Phinney

    Attorney Karen Whitley is a Shareholder at Sheehan Phinney and serves on the firm’s Management Committee as the ‘At Large’ member for Boston. She is also a member of the firm’s Labor & Employment and Litigation Practice Groups. Karen focuses her practice on management-side employment litigation and counseling, including discrimination, wage and hour, and restrictive covenant proceedings. She values working closely with HR professionals and in-house counsel to develop a practical business approach to thorny employment law issues. Karen advises employers on legal compliance in all phases of the employment relationship, conducts sensitive internal investigations, and provides proactive training to management and staff on cutting edge issues. She provides employment law advice arising in connection with mergers and acquisitions, and helps employers protect their proprietary data through the enforcement of restrictive covenants and other policies.

    Dawn Ferry, VP Talent Development / Lighthouse Credit Union

    Dawn Ferry is new to Lighthouse Credit Union and serves as the VP of Talent Development. Before working at Lighthouse, Dawn was in a similar role at Liberty Bank, a larger mutual bank located in Middletown, CT. While at Liberty Bank, Dawn earned an MBA in Innovative Leadership and served on the Connecticut School of Finance and Management curriculum advisory board. Dawn brings a unique approach to credit unions and banking as she spent the first half of her career in hospitality. Dawn worked with Starwood Hotels for the first twelve years of her career in a learning and development role and then in organizational development. Dawn also worked in the world of Relais and Chateaux and Forbes at the Ocean House and Weekapaug Inn in Westerly R.I.  Dawn has two teenage sons, loves travel and great restaurants, and she now resides in Dover N.H.
